What an RO system does
Reverse osmosis pushes water through a semi-permeable membrane with pores far smaller than most contaminants. Combined with sediment and carbon pre-filters, a multi-stage RO system reduces:
- Total dissolved solids, including the minerals that cause hardness
- Chlorine and chloramine taste and odor from city water
- Sediment and rust particles
- Sodium added by a water softener
The systems we install
ClearTex installs Hydroline reverse osmosis systems, sourced from a Texas wholesale distributor. They fit under a standard kitchen sink with a dedicated drinking-water faucet, and in many homes we can also run a line to your refrigerator's water and ice maker.
RO plus whole-home treatment
RO treats water at one tap. A water softener or salt-free conditioner protects the whole house from scale. Most customers pair them: whole-home treatment for pipes and appliances, RO for the water they drink. Pairing them also extends the life of the RO membrane, because softened water is easier on it.
Installation and upkeep
A typical under-sink RO install takes under two hours. The pre-filters are usually changed about once a year and the membrane less often, depending on your water. We'll tell you what your schedule should be based on your water test results.
